School-Based Needs Assessment
DCYM’s first task was to conduct a school-based needs assessment in several communities. Meetings with education stakeholders and community leaders were organized after securing approval to commence intervention. Our first outing was a meeting held with Yelwa community members, a community in Karu LGA of Nasarawa state. During the meeting, challenges in the education sector affecting the community was one of the major issue dealt with and the needs assessment was completed. Similarly, DCYM visited the following communities (Kodayi community, Ado Maichibi community, Kuchidna community, Jigiphe community, Gurku Gwandara community, and (Kabusu community)) in Karu, Nasarawa state to conduct need assessment.
On completion of needs assessment, DCYM had gathered adequate data to able the organization to implement time-sensitive intervention towards filling the gaps within these community schools. Scholastic materials like books and pencils were shared in Yelwa, Jigiphe, Kodayi, Ado Maichibi, Kuchidna, and (Gurku Gwandara) LEA Primary schools. DCYM provided materials and the community volunteered labor for the renovation of a block of two (2) classrooms and a staff room in Kuchidna. About 13 school-aged children in Ado Maichibi LEA Primary school were enrolled in school. DCYM is currently working in collaboration with the Jigiphe community to mold blocks, which will later be used to build a block of four (4) classrooms. In the Kabusu community, the organization is currently renovating a block of four (4) classrooms and a staff room. Furthermore, blocks are already molded designed to build school convenience for students also in the Kabusu community.

Technological/IT Training
DREAM CENTRE FOR YOUNG MINDS in 2024 partnered with CODE 247 and NIGRR STATE MINISTRY OF BASIC EDUCATION to train 150 youths and students from selected public schools in minna on:
EMERGING TECHNOLOGY. In trying to bridge the gap between the private schools and the public schools, we had a pilot phase training workshops for students in senior secondary school and youths to educate them on emerging technologies like AI, Blockchain, Coding and others to help them in making career decisions.
As the world rapidly advances in technology, it has become essential for students and teachers in public schools to be introduced to emerging technologies such as AI and Blockchain. Understanding these technologies can help students make informed career decisions and prepare them for the evolving job market.
